"The SPS Week Ahead" compiles a list of some of the events taking place throughout the district as well as some important reminders.
Early Release Day on Thursday
This Thursday, October 24 is an early release day for the Stoughton Public Schools.
Here are the school hours for early release days:
SHS & OMS - 7:35am - 11:32am
Elementary Schools - 8:30am - 12:20pm
Preschool - 8:30am - 11:00am (No afternoon preschool session)
Lunch will still be served.
USBands MA & RI State Marching Band Championships Being Held at Stoughton High on Saturday, October 26
This coming Saturday, October 26, POPS Stoughton is hosting the USBands Massachusetts & Rhode Island State Marching Band Championships at Stoughton High! Nineteen high school marching bands are scheduled to perform starting at 1pm at Veterans Memorial Stadium at SHS. The Stoughton High Marching Black Knights are scheduled to perform at 6:30pm. Jones PTO Touch a Truck Event on Saturday, October 26
The Jones Early Childhood Center's PTO is hosting a "Touch a Truck" event this coming Saturday, October 26 from 10am-1pm at the Jones (rear parking lot via Park Ave.).
OMS Wrestling Clinic
O'Donnell Middle School students in grades 6-8 can register to take part in a wrestling clinic with OMS wrestling coach Brian Conrad. The clinic will include an introduction to wrestling including basic skills and rules. Wrestling is one of the winter sports offered at OMS and this is a great opportunity to get some experience and learn about wrestling.
Here are the details for the clinic:
Dates: Oct 30th, Nov 6th, and Nov 13th, 2024 (Wednesdays)
Time: 2:30pm - 3:30pm
Location: OMS Gymnasium
Equipment: Shorts, t-shirt, and water.
Athletics
It's another full week of action for our fall sports teams at Stoughton High and the O'Donnell Middle School. Click here to see the athletics schedule for this week.
It's a big week for the middle school sports teams with each team hosting a home game/meet.
OMS cross country - Wednesday, October 23 at 3:30pm behind the OMS, near the JV baseball field/stone dust track.
OMS soccer double header - Wednesday, October 23 at Veterans memorial Stadium at SHS. The girls game is at 6pm, followed by the boys game at 7pm.
OMS field hockey - Thursday, October 24 at 3:45pm at Veterans memorial Stadium at SHS.
And, the final game of the SHS Unified Basketball season is this Wednesday, October 23 at 3:45pm in the SHS gymnasium. The Black Knights are hosting Canton.
School Committee Meeting on Tuesday
The Stoughton School Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in the conference room at the SPS District Office, 31 Pierce St. The public portion of the meeting starts at 7pm. An agenda for the meeting can be found here.
Elementary School Building Committee Meeting on Wednesday
There will be a virtual Elementary School Building Committee Meeting this Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 7pm. An agenda for the meeting can be found here.
Virtual SEPAC Meeting on Thursday
The Stoughton Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is holding its October meeting virtually on Thursday, October 24 from 6-7pm. The meeting will focus on the new IEP format.

Looking Ahead: SHS Student Council Trunk or Treat Event on October 29
Families of our younger students are invited to a Trunk or Treat event organized by the Stoughton High Student Council on Tuesday, October 29 from 6:30-8:30pm in the SHS student parking lot. Bring your candy buckets and collect some candy from cars decorated by the different clubs/teams at Stoughton High!
OMS Looking for Local Veterans to Take Part in Annual Ceremony
The O'Donnell Middle School's annual Veterans Day Assembly is one of the most anticipated events of the school year. 8th grade students interview local veterans and then honor them by presenting their service story with the 8th grade class at the assembly. This year's assembly takes place Thursday, November 7, 2024 (brunch at 8am, followed by the assembly at 9:30am). The OMS is currently looking for local veterans to participate in this tradition. If you are interested in participating, please contact Caitlin Valair, OMS Social Studies Teacher, by November 1 at c_valair@stoughtonschools.org or 781-344-7002.
